about sabzi

Sabzi was designed to provide a sustainable and creative approach to the food industry; aiming to show that deli food can be just as delicious and exciting as that of more traditional restaurants, while working hard to honour the environment and produce of Cornwall.

As the business grows, Kate remains fiercely committed to maintaining Sabzi’s close connection with its customers, upholding the exceptional service for which it has become known, and to starting each day in the kitchen, tasting every dish Sabzi serves.

Kate was born in Cornwall and has spent most of her life there; it's home. With an Iranian father and British mother, Kate has been surrounded by international flavours throughout her life, and naturally brings this variety and originality to her cooking.

Following a number of years in London where Kate gained valuable training in the hospitality industry at Michelin starred level, she returned to Cornwall to get married and has chosen to settle here to raise her two daughters, Ava and Audrey, with her husband Will.

In 2015 Kate hosted a number of sell-out supper club events from their home in Truro, showcasing Iranian food to Cornish audiences in an intimate and informal setting.

2018 saw Kate apply and be accepted from over 3,000 applicants, to appear on, and reach the quarter finals of BBC1's Masterchef. The experience confirmed for Kate her enduring passion for the food industry and enjoyment of cooking and serving her food to others with love, great flavour and flair.

Fast forward to 2019, many sellout events across the South West later, and Kate opened Sabzi in Truro.
